Voice input problems
Fix microphone permissions, unsupported browsers and recognition errors.
Voice input uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. If it doesn't work, the fix is usually in the browser or system settings.
"Voice input isn't supported in this browser."
Use a recent version of Chrome, Edge or Safari. Firefox doesn't currently support speech recognition.
"Microphone access was blocked."
The browser was told not to share the microphone with AI Assistify.
- Click the lock or settings icon in the address bar.
- Set Microphone to Allow.
- Reload the page.
On macOS, also check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and make sure your browser is allowed.
"No microphone was found."
Connect a microphone or headset. If one is connected, check it's selected as the input device in your system's sound settings.
"Voice input needs a network connection to transcribe speech."
Speech is transcribed online. Check your internet connection and try again.
The words come out wrong
- Check the Voice input language next to the microphone matches the language you're speaking.
- Speak a little slower, close to the microphone, and reduce background noise.
- Edit the text in the message box before sending.
Read aloud is silent
Read aloud uses your device's voices. Turn up the volume, make sure the device isn't muted, and on some systems install a voice for your language in the system's speech settings.
